Nalgonda is a town and a municipality in Nalgonda district in the Indian state of Andhra Pradesh. Poverty and unemployment is a major problem in the town as well as in the district. As of 2011 India census Nalgonda had a population of 135,163. Excess fluoride has turned the ground water into a slow poison especially in rural areas of nalgonda district. The Leprosy Health Centre in Nalgonda was established in 1973 by late Rev. Fr. Luigi Pezzoni, a missionary of the Pontifical Institute for Foreign Missions (PIME), In the year 1974 the FSI sisters were invited by Fr.Lugi Pezzoni (PIME) for the purpose of giving care for the leprosy patients, poor and the marginalized .Sr.Stella and Sr.Asumpta were the pioneer to begin the mission, mainly for the medical care of the leprosy patients, Upliftment of the poor, faith formation. With the help of Fr. Pezzoni, the sisters were able to reach out many thousands of poor people who are with leprosy and destitute. “The love of God without expanding to the neighbor will be a tragedy” (Mother Francisca). So it was spreading love of God by reaching out to the least, lost, and the last ones

Organizational chart

It belongs to the Franciscan sisters of the Immaculate. It is organized by management team and Administrative team. The Leprosy Health Centre in evry department is taken care by the sisters.
