Brahmavar Community

Udupi is one of the districts in Karnataka State, Brahmavar village, is situated in Udupi district. Brahmavar is a village surrounded by many Hindu temples but the people are educated and many are settled in other parts of the world for their livelihood.

Karunalaya, Home for the aged and the destitute at Brahmavar, is founded by the Secular Franciscan Order (SFO) of the districts of south Karnataka and Udupi. Karunalaya is administered by the Provincial of Karnataka Capuchin Province, is the President of the Trust, and is responsible for the matters connected with the personnel and the administration of the home.

The land belong to the Mangalore capuchin friar’s society , which is registered under the Karnataka’s registration act. The legal ownership for 89 cents of land in Heroor village was optioned through a gifted greed drawn in favors of the above society on 18 h March 1994. Franciscan sisters wer e invited by Rev Fr Vincet Furtado the provincial superior of Capuchins Holy Trinity province on 20th May in the year 2000.
