22nd - 25th January 2017 - Visit by Sr. Lucy .A and Sr. Hilda, the general councilors.
It was a great concern towards the Brahmavar community. Sisters have arrived in the evening on 22nd January .23rd they have conducted a prayer service which was meaningful and enlightening. On24th they have talked with each sister individually and that towards evening they have gone to Karkala to visit the shiny and following day sisters came back. On 25th, evening it was time to say bye to the community sisters and return to Bangalore. During the visit, they have shared many things and experiences of life. The community sisters feel lifeless because of the death of Sr. Arul; they have given support and encouragement.
16th April 2017-Easter celebrations
Easter tridum was celebrated with much devotion and faith. Karunalaya was with full of festive mood with visitors. On Easter day Vinny aunty came along with people to have lunch with us. There was a laughter and togetherness with people. In the evening Dr.Bandare came to visit Ashram; had supper with the inmates and shared his life events. It was memorable day. The Easter joy was shared with love and affection.
23rd May 2017-Arrival of Srs. Goretti.B and Nakshatram
"Let's raise up a hearty welcome, big and warm enough to hold you all ..." On 23rd may Sr.Maria Goretti.B and Sr. Nakshatram arrived in Karunalaya. They were welcomed by sisters and inmates of Karunalaya.
26th May 2017-Taking over by the new superior
"Success on any major scale requires you to accept responsibility . . . . In the final analysis, the one quality that all successful people have is the ability to take on responsibility.” Today Sr. Goretti.B took in charge of Karunalaya ashram. In the evening we had special prayer service in which Sr.Nakshatram.R handed over the keys of the Tabernacle to Sr. Goretti.B as a symbol of taking over the responsibility of being the animator of Karunalaya community. We all prayed and wished Sr. Goretti.B all the best for the new mission. On the following day Sr.Nakshatram.R left for Langford Gardens.
23rd-29th July 2017-Visit of Sr. Alice
Welcome is for both known and unknown .And today we welcomed to our community, Sr. Alice our provincial. She stayed in the community from 23rd to 29th of July .she had personal talk with some of community sisters. Sr. Shiny was also present. She also had a community meeting with the sisters
26th July 2017- Grandparents day
Grandparents fill your world with love. Today was the feast of Sts.Joquim and Anne, the grandparents of Jesus. We the sisters in Karunalaya along with Sr. Alice our provincial celebrated grandparents’ day. We had mass in the morning and a special tea party with cutting of the cake in the evening. It was a great day for the inmates as it was their day.
27th August 2017-Visit by Kerala community sisters.
Today our sisters from Kerala community:-Srs.Arogya,Zeenath and Anita visited us. We welcomed them with great joy and happiness. They stayed with us for a day and left back for their community on 28th August .We made a visit to our parish church .In the evening sisters spent their time with the inmates of Karunalaya and gave them gifts for them as a token of love from their community. We had a nice time.
19th September 2017-Franciscan gathering at St.Anne’s Friary, Mangalore.
The festal celebration for all Franciscans was held on 19th September in Mangalore. We participated in the celebrations. There was Holy Eucharistic celebration; it was presided over by Fr.Basil, OFM Cap. There was a cultural programme and a sharing by one innocent prisoner set free with the help of Prison Ministry. We ended the gathering with the festal lunch. It was a great day.
25th September 2017-Visit of Bishop Gerald Isaac Lobo, the bishop of Udupi.
The earth rejoices when sun and rain make their way right to the receiver. Today the good shepherd of Udupi diocese, Most Rev. Gerald Isaac Lobo, visited Karunalaya as part of his 3 days canonical visit to our parish. His grace celebrated the Holy Eucharist for us and the inmates. Fr.Victor, our parish too was present. His grace spoke with the inmates and the sisters and had a fruitful breakfast. His grace was a blessing to our home. His grace presence was humble and appreciative.
