Community History

In the year 2008 Fr. I Johnson had invited FSI Sisters to come for vocation promotion to his Khandwa Diocese. Rev. Fr Chinnappar, the then Administrator of the diocese handed the invitation to Sr.Belinda and Sr.Sanjitha Ekka had gone for vocation promotion, to start the mission in the diocese.By then Provincial Sr. Lucy Augustine and her council after deep reflection, discussion and prayer planned to begin the mission in khandwa. Sr. Lucy Augustine the provincial superior of F.S.I, Sr. Jeroza Xavier the councilor and the community members namely Sr. Katherine.M the superior, Sr. Doma Jaya and Sr. Fathima S began the journey to Khandwa M.P. They were welcomed and received whole heartedly by Rev. Fr.Chinnappar the administrator and Rev Fr. Victor the secretary of former bishop Most Rev. Leo. The sisters lived in the Divyodaya Pastoral Centre from 27th September 2008 to 2009, until the school was built.

Meanwhile sisters were teaching in St. Sophia and St. Pious School. It was a great and memorable day that on17th July 2009 the inauguration and blessing of the school took place. St. Francis Convent School was blessed by Most Rev. A.A.S Durairaj the bishop of Khandwa, and inaugurated by Sr. Lucy Augustine the provincial of F.S.I. and Thus the mission of F.S.I. began with 25 children (L.K.G & U.K.G) in the school. Rev.Fr Saji Kurian as the manager and Sr. Doma Jaya as the first principal. Sisters were staying in the school class rooms for 5 years 2008 to 2014. On July 16th 2014 the blessing and inauguration of the Convent, it was blessed by Most Rev. Bishop A.A.S. Durairaj. And inaugurated by Sr.Alice P.T. the Provincial of F.S.I. Thus our mission began educating the children in Khandwa M.P. and it is flourishing with good result.
