Community History

As per the need of the diocese of Aurangabad the Bishop Edwin Colaco gave an invitation through Rev.Dr.Fr. Benny Kallikat the manager of the Little Flower High School to the Franciscan Sisters of the Immaculate. It was during the tenure of Sr. Lucy Augustine as the Provincial Superior. The invitation was mainly to teach the children in the Little Flower High School. This proposal was finally approved in the provincial Chapter 2014, Our Lady of Health province. The first Sisters who came to St. John Mary Vianney Convent were Sr. Sandra Luis, Sr. Swarnalatha and Sr. ZeaneathViegas. The province had arranged three days of orientation programme for these sisters preparing them spiritually, mentally and psychologically and giving them input sessions.

The Community sisters arrived on 1st June 2014 to Aurangabad Bishop’s House along with Sr. Alice P.T the Provincial, Sr. Anthony Mary the provincial Councilor and the Sisters from Ambajogai Community. The convent was officially inaugurated on 4th August 2014 by then Bishop of Aurangabad Diocese Bishop Edwin Colaco in the presence of Rev. Fr. Ambrose Rebello the Vicar General, Sr. Alice P.T. the Major Superior of Our Lady of Health Province, and her councilor Sr. Belinda Serrao, sisters from different communities and the locals were present. The Sisters began to reside in the community from 7th June 2014 onward with the invocation to Triune God through a creative prayer service.
